We wrote these terms to be readable by a real person, not just a lawyer. The legal language is in here because it needs to be — but we've done our best to make it clear and honest. 1. Who We Are
Grindstone Supply Co. is a Canadian-owned small business based in Welland, Ontario. We sell handcrafted bar soap and personal care products under the Grindstone brand, manufactured in Northern Ontario, Canada.
By visiting grindstonesupplyco.com and placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree, please don't use our website or purchase our products.
2. Our Products
2.1 Product Descriptions
We do our best to accurately describe every product on our website — ingredients, weight, scent, and use. Product photos are as accurate as possible but slight variations in colour and appearance may exist between photos and the actual product, particularly with handcrafted soap bars where natural variation is part of the process.
2.2 Not Medical Products
Grindstone products are cosmetic bar soaps. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. If you have a known skin condition, allergy, or sensitivity, please review the full ingredient list before purchasing and consult a healthcare professional if needed.
2.3 Ingredient Transparency
Full ingredient lists for all products are published on each product page and on our What Goes Into Grindstone? page. We use no synthetic fragrance. All ingredients are listed using their INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names as required by Health Canada.
2.4 Availability
All products are subject to availability. We reserve the right to discontinue any product at any time. If a product you ordered becomes unavailable after your order is placed, we will notify you and issue a full refund.
3. Pricing
3.1 Prices
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change without notice.
3.2 Taxes
Applicable taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout based on your shipping address. Canadian orders are subject to applicable GST/HST.
3.3 Errors
In the event of a pricing error on our website, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund. We will notify you immediately if this occurs.
4. Orders & Payment
4.1 Order Acceptance
Placing an order on our website constitutes an offer to purchase. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order. Your order is confirmed when you receive an order confirmation email from us.
4.2 Payment
We accept payment via Shopify Payments, major credit cards, and other payment methods displayed at checkout. All transactions are processed securely through SSL-encrypted payment processors. We do not store your payment card information.
4.3 Order Changes & Cancellations
If you need to change or cancel your order, email us at GrindstoneSupplyCo@Gmail.com as soon as possible. Once an order has been shipped we are unable to cancel it, but our return policy applies.
5. Shipping
5.1 Flat Rate Shipping
We charge a $5.00 CAD flat rate shipping fee on all orders under $50.00 CAD. Orders of $50.00 CAD or more qualify for free shipping. This applies to both Canada and USA orders.
5.2 Shipping Timeframes
Orders typically ship within 1-3 business days of being placed. Delivery takes approximately 3-5 business days within Canada. US delivery times may vary. These are estimates and not guarantees — delays caused by carriers, customs, or events outside our control are not our responsibility.
5.3 Tracking
You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships. Use this to monitor your delivery through the carrier's website.
5.4 Shipping Address
Please ensure your shipping address is correct at checkout. We are not responsible for orders shipped to an incorrect address provided by the customer. If an order is returned to us due to an incorrect address, we will contact you to arrange reshipment at your cost.
5.5 Lost or Stolen Packages
If your tracking shows delivered but you haven't received your package, contact us at GrindstoneSupplyCo@Gmail.com within 7 days of the delivery date and we'll do our best to help resolve it.
6. Returns & The First Bar Guarantee
6.1 The First Bar Guarantee
We stand behind every bar we ship. If your first Grindstone bar doesn't deliver — the clean, the scent, the grit — email us at GrindstoneSupplyCo@Gmail.com and we'll make it right. This may mean a replacement bar, store credit, or a refund at our discretion. No return shipping is required for First Bar Guarantee claims.
6.2 General Returns
Due to the nature of personal care products, we do not accept returns of opened or used products outside of the First Bar Guarantee. Unopened, unused products may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund minus shipping costs. Contact us before returning anything.
6.3 Damaged Orders
If your order arrives damaged, email us at GrindstoneSupplyCo@Gmail.com with a photo within 7 days of delivery. We will send a replacement at no charge.
6.4 Refund Processing
Approved refunds are processed within 5-7 business days and returned to your original payment method.
7. Subscriptions (The Grindstone Crew)
7.1 How It Works
By joining the Grindstone Crew subscription program you authorize us to charge your payment method automatically every 30 days for your selected subscription product at the applicable subscription price (20% off regular price).
7.2 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account page or by emailing GrindstoneSupplyCo@Gmail.com. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before your next scheduled billing date to avoid being charged for that cycle. There are no cancellation fees.
7.3 Skipping
You may skip a delivery at any time through your account page. Skipped deliveries resume the following month automatically.
7.4 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before any price change takes effect. You may cancel before the change takes effect if you do not agree.
7.5 Failed Payments
If a subscription payment fails, we will attempt to process it again. If payment continues to fail your subscription may be paused or cancelled. We will notify you by email if this occurs.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Our Brand
The Grindstone name, logo, gear mark, product names (GRIT, POLISH, The Shift Kit), taglines, website content, and all other brand elements are the property of Grindstone Supply Co. and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual property law.
8.2 No Reproduction
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use any Grindstone brand assets, product photography, or written content without our express written permission.
8.3 User Content
If you share photos, reviews, or content featuring our products on social media, you grant us permission to share or repost that content with credit to you. We will never use your content in paid advertising without asking first.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grindstone Supply Co. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our products or website. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product in question.
We are not responsible for adverse reactions caused by failure to read the ingredient list, use of our products contrary to their intended purpose, or individual sensitivities or allergies that were not disclosed to us prior to purchase.
10. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
